Teaching Assignment: Agricultural Education
Extra Duties: National FFA Organization (FFA), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Assistant Football Coach, and Junior Class Sponsor.
Education: I attended the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis and graduated from NCTA with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Agricultural Production Systems in 1994. The next Fall I transferred to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Diversified Agriculture with minors in Animal Science and Leadership Education. I then returned to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in the Fall of 2001 to pursue a Master’s Degree. The title of my Master Thesis was “Student’s Attitudes on Agricultural Education and Rural Living”. I earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Leadership Education along with my teaching certificate in Agricultural Education in December of 2002.
Job Experience: This is my sixth year of teaching all of which have been at Elgin Public Schools. I previously worked as a Parts Salesman at Peschel Equipment in Marysville, KS. and an Extension Assistant in Phelps & Gosper Counties in Holdrege and Elwood, NE.
Biography: My wife, Nichole is the third grade teacher at Elgin Public and helps co-sponsor the FCA organization. In May we moved into a new house just West of Elgin. We have four children that keep us very busy: Logan, Kelsey, Dillon, & Kaitlyn. Nichole and I are both originally from Burwell and are Alumni of Burwell Jr. – Sr. High School. I was on the College Rodeo team while attending UNL and was the Men’s Team Captain my Senior year. My hobbies include roping, fishing, & hunting. I also like all types of sports and am a big Nebraska Cornhusker and Green Bay Packer Fan.
Teaching Goals: My teaching goals are to excite students about the field of agriculture. To encourage them to explore career opportunities in agriculture on the local and global level. To teach them life skills that will be useful in whatever career they decide to choose. To prepare students to enter the workforce or continue their education after high school.
