Elgin School Board Members Win Awards

Nebraska School Boards Association Fall Meeting

Scott Beckman, Mary Bauer, and Steve Heithoff receive awards at the NASB banquet.

Members from the Elgin School Board attended the fall session of the Nebraska Associated School Boards (NASB) at Norfolk, September 26, 2007.  The fall kick-off meeting was held in the Lifelong Learning Center at Northeast Community College and began with training in skill-building clinics at 5:00 p.m.  After the clinics the board members attended a general session where they were updated on educational issues across the state.  This session was followed by dinner.

Then came the awards!  Four Elgin School Board members received awards of achievement.  The NASB Awards of Achievement program is designed to recognize the time and commitment made by board members in continuing their education and their involvement in the Association.  Points are awarded for participation in local, state and national activities which enhance effective board service.

Receiving Level One Awards were:  Mary Bauer and Stan Heithoff.  Scott Beckman earned a Level Two Award.  After announcing the names of the board members receiving the first three level awards the emcee noted that less than 1% of board members earn an award past the first three levels.  Steve Heithoff, Elgin Board Chair, was awarded a level four award!  Congratulations board members and thanks for the work you do on behalf of the young people in our school district.
