Members from the Elgin School Board attended the fall session of
the Nebraska Associated School Boards (NASB) at Norfolk, September
26, 2007. The fall kick-off meeting was held in the Lifelong
Learning Center at Northeast Community College and began with
training in skill-building clinics at 5:00 p.m. After
the clinics the board members attended a general session where they
were updated on educational issues across the state. This
session was followed by dinner.
Then came the awards! Four Elgin School Board members
received awards of achievement. The NASB Awards of
Achievement program is designed to recognize the time and
commitment made by board members in continuing their education and
their involvement in the Association. Points are awarded for
participation in local, state and national activities which enhance
effective board service.

Receiving Level One Awards were: Mary Bauer and
Stan Heithoff. Scott Beckman earned a Level Two Award.
After announcing the names of the board members receiving the
first three level awards the emcee noted that less than 1% of board
members earn an award past the first three levels. Steve
Heithoff, Elgin Board Chair, was awarded a level four award!
Congratulations board members and thanks for the work you do
on behalf of the young people in our school district.
