2008 Keya Paha Invitational Art Show

31 Elgin Art students submitted work for the annual Keya Paha Invitational Art Show at Springview. Arriving at school at 6:45am to load the van for the two and half hour journey northwest were Tonya Wiegand, Brandy Suhr, Noel Voborny, Justin Kallhoff, Tyler Johnson, Justine Meis and Chad Clouse. Once at Keya Paha County High they were responsible for hanging more than 150 artworks. After hanging the EHS work they participated in an art activity during the three hour judging. The show opened at 1:30 and students were able to view their work. 8-12 Elgin Public students won 53 ribbons. These included 2 Judge's Merit Awards(Purple) for Outstanding Work, 11 Superiors(Blue), 19 Excellents(Red), 12 Commendables(Yellow) and 9 Honorable Mentions(Green).
Individual ribbons were as follows;
Allie Schiltmeyer-9 (4 Blues, 2 Reds, 1 Yellow, 2 Greens)
Linsey Bode-7 (1 Blue, 3 Reds, 2 Yellows and 1 Green)
Carlie Redding-6 (2 Purples, 1 Blue, 1 Red and 2 Yellows)
Chad Clouse-5 (1 Blue and 4 Reds)
Noel Voborny-4 (1 Blue, 1 Red and 2 Greens )
Andrew Bauer-3 (1 Blue, 1 Yellow and 1 Green)
Tyler Johnson-2 (1 Blue and 1 Yellow)
Kara Zegers- (1 Red, 1 Yellow, 1 Green)
Winning individual ribbons were the following;
Blue ribbon-Justin Kallhoff
Red ribbons-Austin Stamp, Candace Coover, Emily Wilhelmi, Justine Meis, Brandy Suhr and Travis Dozler
Yellow Ribbon-Jamie Bode
Green Ribbon-Bethany Kallhoff and Ayli Carrero
The Eighth Grade won 4 ribbons.
Tre Henkenius won an Excellent for his paper mache sculpture. Shane Vanis, Connor Kinney and Nash Schindler all won a Commendable for their sculptures.
