I attended Wayne State College and earned my Bachelor of Art in Education degree in 1980. I went back to WSC and added a Masters of Science in Curriculum Development in 2006.
I taught part-time at Pope John, St. Boniface, St. Michael's and Petersburg Public schools for the first 4 years of my teaching career. I was a substitute teacher for 3 years in local schools before taking a position at Ewing Public in 1989. I taught at Ewing for eleven years until accepting the K-12 Art position at Elgin Public in 2000. This is my tenth year at EHS.
I grew up on a farm southeast of Elgin and graduated from Elgin Public in 1976. I am married to Steve Heithoff, owner of Heithoff Irrigation and we have two children, Michael and Crystal. I enjoy gardening, reading, remodeling, decorating and seeing how many things come in purple.
My teaching goal is to help children develop a life long interest in Art. I want them to see that Art is something that they will use continually throughout their life from creating art to decorating their home. I help children to learn that anyone can create art if someone shows them how.
