HARVEST OF HARMONY PARADE
BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A PARADE
October 4th couldn’t have been a nicer day to have a parade. The crowd was fantastic, the TV crew ready and the bands tuned up. Elgin’s Marching Eagles traveled to Grand Island for the annual Harvest of Harmony Parade. We were up at five (yes – am!!!) and on the road at six (what an early morning – especially after a super football game and FFA auction the night before!). By the time the parade started, we were ready to march!
Elgin’s band did a great job of marching. The judges were very positive with their comments to help us improve for the future. However, we did not place high enough (17 out of 27) to receive a trophy for our efforts. Osmond placed first, Chambers second, Orchard third and Overton fourth in the parade competition. Osmond also scored the highest amount of points of any bands there that day (Classes AA – D) to receive the award for the best band overall!!! What a wonderful honor for them.
Thanks to the sponsors that helped us on our trips. Also a big thank you to Mrs. Vanis for the photos you will see. Mrs. Heithoff gets the kudos for putting the slide show together. Marching season is over for the Eagles….we are proud of the strides you made in the short time we had this season. Best of luck in the rest of the school year and all your competitions.
