Experience
After completing my student teaching assignment at West Point Public Schools, I graduated in December of 1995. I then worked as a substitute teacher at Tekamah-Herman, Oakland-Craig, West Point, and Logan View Public Schools until the interview process began. In May I was hired for the English position at Elgin Public Schools. At Elgin Public I taught all secondary language arts courses, coached volleyball, one-act, and speech, and served as a class sponsor. After four years, I decided to take a position with Albion Public Schools, now Boone Central Schools. I taught a variety of courses over my eight years there, including English 9, Freshman English, Journalism, Junior English, and Speech. I served as the varsity volleyball coach for six years, the junior high volleyball coach for two years, and I also acted as the advisor for the school newspaper. I returned to Elgin Public Schools at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year and am currently in my third year back. Though I very much enjoyed my time at Boone Central, my children are now starting school, and I enjoy being on the same schedule as they are.
Biography
I am a 1990 graduate of Tekamah-Herman High School. I attended Wayne State College until December of 1995 and then returned home to substitute teach. I moved to Elgin to take on my first teaching position and have been here ever since. I married Marty Henn from Petersburg. He is an electrician with Nebraska Pork Partners. We have a son, Blake, a daughter, Chloe, and another son, Max. When I do have some spare time, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, photography, writing, watching any movies featuring Will Ferrell, playing volleyball, and being outdoors. Mostly, I love being a mom and spending time with my family.
Teaching Goals
I hope to provide my students with the skills they need in order to function efficiently in college, their careers, and in society. I want to impress upon them the importance of expressing themselves effectively and taking advantage of every possible opportunity to learn.
