Congratulations to this year’s Nebraska Leadership Conference Attendees from Elgin Public ---- Hunter Reestman and Allyson Wemhoff

ATTENTION FFA!!!! You have 2 days left to bring in your new pair of Pajama's for the Pajama Drive!! We have a  A LOT now, but with over 40 members, we can get more! Anyone else wishing to donate a new pair of Pj's size 8-14 (youth/children) you have until the end of the day this THURSDAY, Dec. 15th! Thanks!

There is a lost and found table outside of the lunchroom---------- anything left on there or in the locker rooms will be taken to the bargain box during Christmas break

WEDNESDAY:  Please leave the parking available by the gym on Wed. for the bloodmobile participants.  Thank you.

If you haven't already, take a peek at the door to Mrs. Rittscher's office.  NHS members are looking for Secret Agent Elves to help spread Christmas kindness and good cheer.  Take an envelope that contains a mission to spread Christmas kindness and good cheer.  Complete your mission and turn the envelope back in to Mrs. Rittscher to receive your elf name & status.  If you want to complete another mission--great!  All you need to do is help write and fold another Secret Agent Elf mission!  Mrs. Rittscher or any NHS member can help!

The Elgin Education Association will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair December 13-15.  Give a child an opportunity to read with the gift of books!

Tuesday, December 13 from 4:00-7:00 P.M.   (stage)

Wednesday, December 14 from 4:00-5:00 P.M.   (stage)

Thursday, December 15 from the time school dismisses for the day and remain open until after the concert has concluded.  (lunchroom)

STUDENTS:  Are you looking ahead to your class schedule for next semester?   If you want to make changes, you will need to pick up a form in the office, complete it, have your parents sign and get teacher approval before you submit the change to Mrs. Rittscher.  Forms will be available starting Dec. 12th.  All drop/adds must be made before Jan. 6th.  (The sooner you make the change, the better.  That ensures that we have enough books, supplies, etc.)

No switching study halls

CTE classes are limited to junior and seniors.  If you are not in good standing with current CTE, you are not allowed to take another spring semester.  CTE period is 8th hour with Mrs. D. Heithoff.   Only one independent online class is allowed

As you make decisions about transferring classes, be sure to think about the following:

Recommended courses for admission into college:

*  ENGLISH 4 years of intensive reading & writing

*  MATH 4 years including Algebra I, Algebra II & Geometry--and one additional course that builds on knowledge of Algebra

*  SOCIAL STUDIES 3 years including American History and/or World History; one additional course in History, American Government and/or Geography; and a third course form any social science discipline

*  NATURAL SCIENCES 3 years including Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth Sciences.

*  WORLD LANGUAGE 2 years of same language

Be sure to visit websites of colleges that interest you to learn their specific course requirements for admission.  Consider challenging coursework and that challenging coursework OPENS doors instead of closing them for college admission!
