Earth science studies ocean floor

Earth science students make ocean floor models

It looks just like the real thing! (only more colorful)

As part of the ocean floor study, the Earth science students created ocean floor models.  They could use any materials they chose, as long as they accurately depicted ocean floor features.

Using clay gives it that "real life" look.
There was a wide variety of appearances--some used clay or Play-Doh while others used anything they could find laying around the house!  The tastiest project was the one made of cake--we all enjoyed eating that model!

Using odds and ends makes a great ocean floor project!

The class will continue to study water, although they have moved on to freshwater.  They will learn about groundwater issues, the aquifer, and what we can all do to conserve water.
