TEACHING ASSIGNMENT

Pre-School -12 Vocal & Instrumental Music

EXTRA DUTIES

Marching Band, Pep Band, Solo Contest, Honor Groups

I attended Chadron State College and earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1979.  I had my first teaching job in Beaver City, NE.  The next 2 years were in Arapahoe, NE teaching vocal music.  I went back to Beaver City afternoons teaching elementary music and mornings were spent in Holbrook for 7 years.  After moving to northeast Nebraska, I taught music in Verdigre for 4 years.  I accepted the vocal-instrumental music position in Elgin where I continue to teach music.

I grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota (proud home of the Corn Palace!) and moved to Chadron, NE my first year of high school.  I graduated in 1975 and went to college where I married Doug Jones.  He is also employed at Elgin Public Schools as the Social Studies teacher.  We have 2 children - Jenni and Chris.  I enjoy reading, boating, camping in our 5th wheel touring America and spending time with our grandchildren Kane, Abriel and Lucas.

It is said that "music is the universal language".  Anyone can enjoy some kind of music in their life.  My teaching goal is to make every child aware that music is something you can do throughout your whole lifetime.  It will make you a more sensitive, creative person so........keep a song in your heart!
