Salute to the Constitution
September 16, 2011
On Friday September 16th, students of Elgin Public Schools gathered around the American flag to take time to honor the United States Constitution. This was an opportunity for students to reflect on the document that has guided the United States for the last 224 years.
The ceremony began with a reading by members of the 11th grade American Government class. They read a choral reading by Lorainne Griffith concerning the Preamble to the Constitution. The American Government students then spoke on the need for recognizing the importance of the constitution. To conclude the ceremony, the pre school led the entire student body in the Pledge of Allegiance.
We feel it is important to take time to develop awareness for the important documents that have served our country and to develop a greater appreciation for them.
