Lip Dub 2011

On Tuesday, October 18, the Digital Media Class of Nash Schindler and Cody Currah shot their first Lip Dub at Elgin Public Schools. In conjunction with homecoming week, the student body dressed up in 70s, 80s, and 90s clothing to go with the song 19 Something by Mark Wills. This was the song chosen by the Digital Media Class to do the Lip Dub to.  Choosing the song proved to be the first very difficult decision to make and the class asked the student body for their help. Early in the school year we put a poll on to the school web page to chose the song that the students would like us to use in the making of our first Lip Dub.

After picking the song the Digital Media Class had to map out a route and the route had to be in time with the song. Soon after the mapping and timing was done the Digital Media Class started to put all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade in certain places along the route and plan lip syncers as they went.

On the day of the shooting everyone met in the gym at the start of 7th hour to go over props and places that everyone needed to be at.  We then did a walk through to show everybody what they were supposed to do and their location along the route. When we thought everybody was ready we video taped the route three times, using the video from the last walk through as our final product. In all, it took approximately an hour and 15 minutes to put everyone in their place and shoot the video.

After the actual shooting, our next step was to overlay the music on the video and time it.  Knowing we wanted to premier this video before the Homecoming Parade on Friday, we pushed ourselves to get this part done quickly and worked extra hard so it would be done.

Overall, we felt like it was a fun project for the whole student body to be apart of and we hope you have enjoyed the Lip Dub we created.  We learned a lot about video, editing, and planning in this project and look forward to creating more!

Fantastic! This project took a lot of planning before it ever got to the filming stage. Mrs. Selting and her 2 students need to be congratulated on their hard work. As for the rest of the students and staff ----- Awesome! It is wonderful to view such teamwork and cooperation like it took to put this all together! Great costumes and acting by everyone!
