On April 6th, the Nebraska State FFA Convention kicked off, and the Elgin FFA Chapter came out swinging! In the Agriscience Fair, Kyle Schumacher and the group of Eli Heilhecker and Calli Krebs were state champions in their divisions. The Agricultural Demo of Trey Baum and Lexi Heithoff were finalists and received a Gold Merit award. The Biotechnology Team of Dylan Widger, Eli Heilhecker, Lydia Behnk, and Taylor Sehi placed 6th overall, and Lydia was 11th overall. The Agriscience team of Kira Widger, Kyle Schumacher, Hunter Reestman and Ally Wemhoff also received 6th overall.
In proficiency's, Trey Baum was state champion in Beef Production, Placement. Chase Preister was state champion in Ag Services, Placement. Justin Funk placed third in Diversified Crop Production. Trey Baum also was a State Star Finalist in Production in a group of eight, despite, a young man from Wisner-Pilger winning, Trey represented our chapter with class. The senior FFA members also received their state degrees. These members are: Andrew Fangman, Kalin Henn, Seth Schumacher, Chase Preister, Dylan Behnk, Alois Warner,Trey Baum, Dylan Widger, Karissa Dicke, and Lexi Heithoff. Congratulations seniors on a great four years with our FFA Chapter!
