2017 NVC Art Show
The Elgin Public Art students attended the NVC art show hosted by Boyd County at Spencer. We traveled up to Spencer Thursday, April 27th to hang the show which was judged in the afternoon and open to the public that evening. We returned on Friday to view the results and participate in an art activity. Joan Swim the Art teacher from Valentine gave a presentation on caricature drawing and had all students participate by creating their own caricature from a photograph of a celebrity. The students did an amazing job on their drawings.

After lunch students gathered for the judge's presentation. Host Sherry Black read the judges' comments to the students on how to improve their work for next year. The Judge's Merit award winners also talked to the students about their work and the thought process that went into it. The work was taken down for the long journey back home to Elgin.

Earning two Judge's Merit Awards (Purples) for Outstanding work was Bailey Bennett-Schrader.
Receiving Blue ribbons for Superior work were Lexi Swanson, Jaime Hoefer, Geoffrey Carr, Shelby Dohmen, Joey Getzfred, April Williams and Norman Grothe.
Receiving Red ribbons for Excellent work were Jaime Hoefer (2), Nick Iburg, Shelby Dohmen, Garet Behnk, Kira Widger, Paige Nichols, Brea Carr, Jordan Lindgren, Bailey Bennett-Schrader and Theanna Dunn (2)
Earning a Yellow ribbon for Commendable work were Thomas Morrow, Shelby Dohmen, Lexi Swanson, Joey Getzfred, Theanna Dunn and Norman Grothe.
Bringing home Green ribbons for Honorable Mention work were A.J. Getzfred, Paige Nichols, Nick Iburg, Theanna Dunn and April Williams.
