Salsa Champs 2018!
The Foods & Nutrition class canned salsa last week, and then on Friday, the class conducted a taste test to determine a winner.
Three groups of students competed for the honors of being Salsa Champions for 2018.
The group that received top honors was the team of Hunter Reestman, Mary Nichols, and Leslie Nichols. The winning recipe was found on allrecipe.com called "Rockin' Salsa" and it contained unique ingredients such as brown sugar and tomato paste.
Other groups in the competition were the teams of Breanne Carr/Mateo Kirstine and Cade Heithoff/Kira Widger/Allyson Wemhoff.
The project lasted most of the week with groups taking turns chopping and canning on alternating days.
All produce for the salsa canning was donated by EPS staff and faculty. All team members were able to take a jar of salsa home to share with family.
