Jr. High Volleyball Wins Title at Ewing Tournament
The junior high Pack went out on top. They concluded a successful campaign by capturing the title at the Ewing Tournament on Saturday.
In first round action, the team defeated Neligh-Oakdale in straight sets: 25-15, 25-11.
Keyera Eisenhauer led from the service line with 5 aces. Taylynne Charf and Baylee Busteed each added 2. Emma Lea Ruterbories contributed 1 ace.
Taylynne Charf led the attack with 6 kills. Skyler Meis and Busteed each chipped in with 5. Brenna Martinsen put down 4, while Ashlynne Charf added 3, and Keyera Eisenhauer, 2.
T. Charf and Busteed fed the offense with 7 and 5 assists respectively. Meis added 2, and Martinsen, 1.
Good passes from serve receive allowed for a functioning offense. Meis passed up 4, and Ruterbories, 3. Busteed and T. Charf eached added 2, and Eisenhauer, 1.
Defensively, Meis led the diggers with 8. Ruterbories, Eisenhauer, Martinsen, T. Charf, and A. Charf all got in on the action with 2 each. Busteed picked up 1. Meis also blocked back one for an ace.
In game two, the Pack downed OCE in two sets as well: 25-14; 25-21.
Serving leaders were Meis with 4 aces, and Busteed following closely with 3.
Meis and Eisenhauer were both forces at the net with 5 kills each. Martinsen chipped in with 4, and T. Charf, 3.
T. Charf dished out 9 assists to keep the offense running, and Busteed set up 1.
Martinsen put up 6 good passes from serve receive. T. Charf, Ruterbories and Eisenhauer each passed up 3. S. Meis and Busteed contributed 2 and Brooklyn Meis added 1.
S. Meis was all over the court, picking up 7 digs. T. Charf was right behind her with 6. Eisenhauer protected the floor with 5. Busteed and B. Meis came up with 3 a piece, and A. Charf got a hand on 2.
In the championship game, EPPJ faced off against a scrappy O’Neill team. They claimed the victory in two close sets: 25-23, 25-21.
The Pack served aggressively from the line, resulting in 4 aces from S. Meis, and 3 a piece from Busteed, T. Charf and Martinsen.
S. Meis was also a force at the net with 4 kills. Martinsen, T. Charf and A. Charf pitched in with 2 each. Eisenhauer contributed to the win with 1.
Charf fueled the offense with 6 assists, and Busteed put up 2 resulting in kills.
S. Meis came up with 10 good passes from serve receive to pace the offense. Martinsen added 6, and A Charf 5. Eisenhauer passed up 2. T. Charf and Busteed each produced 1 as well.
On the defensive side, Martinsen and A. Charf each came up with 6 big digs to slow the O’Neill attack. S. Meis picked up 5. Busteed got a hand on 3, Eisenhauer, 2, and T. Charf and B. Meis each added 1. S.
Meis also added 1 ace block to the effort.
The coaches prasied the team for their performance all season.
