2020 Junior High Sculptures

Callie

The 7th Grade Art class started off the quarter by creating paper mache sculptures.  They began with a Styrofoam head and applied several layers of brown paper towels dipped in a water and glue mix.  This was allowed to dry and harden overnight.  They then mixed up a pulp consisting of shredded tissues and more glue.  This was applied to create the features of the face.  Once the features dried another layer of paper towels was paper mached over the face.  When the sculpture was dry the students painted their art piece with black, acrylic paint.  Silver paint was dry brushed over the black to give the sculpture a metallic appearance.

The last step was creating a hairdo for their sculpture.  The 7th grade used tissue paper, metallic streamers and window screen.  Some students added accessories such as glasses, earrings and headphones.  Click on the slideshows to view their work.
