K-12 Elgin Public students may compete at two art shows in the area during the spring.

NIOBRARA VALLEY CONFERENCE SHOW The Niobrara Valley Conference Art Show is the last Thursday and Friday in April.  This show includes Junior High and High School work from only NVC schools.  This is a traveling show and is hosted by a different NVC school each year. Students will hang their work in the morning on Thursday.  The show is judged in the afternoon and open to the public in the evening.  Students will participate in an art activity on Friday morning followed by the Judges' Critique.  The show is taken down after the critique.  This year Chambers Public Schools is hosting the show April 28th and 29th.

K-12 ESU#8 INVITATIONAL The ESU #8 Invitational shows at Neligh have now been combined into one K-12 show.  Due to space limitations, only 3 projects per grade (K-8) may be entered in this show.  Two Judge's Choice awards are given; one for K-4 and one for 5-8. Also awarded are Superior and Excellent ribbons.

The high school students have 31 categories they may enter work in.  Due to space limitations only eight works per category may be entered.  There is one "Best of Show" ribbon awarded.  Other ribbons awarded include purple for outstanding work, blue for superior and red for excellent work.

This show represents 5500 students in 30 schools over a seven county area.  The show is on display at the County Fair grounds and is open to the public.

K-12 students are allowed to take their work home after all of the shows are completed in the spring.

Students may enter their artwork in the Antelope County Fair's Open Class category in the summer.
