2009 First Day of School

"Walk the Talk"

Everyone has been busy getting ready for the start of the 2008-2009 school year. Schmitt Construction was busy pouring cement in several areas of the school grounds. New mulch was added to the landscaping garden and the gym has a marquee sign to keep everyone up to date on EHS events.

We have several new faces at Elgin Public. In addition to several new students we have three new faculty members, a new interim superintendent and new custodian/aide! Mr. Lee Hall will be acting superintendent for the first two months of school. He will be filling in for Dr. Fredrickson who is on medical leave. New faculty members include; Amy Selting-Business teacher, Stacy Shumake-Henn-English instructor and Tina Thiele-Blecher-Title One teacher and Junior High Language Arts. Angie Miller will be the elementary custodian and noon aide.

New Staff

The staff was off to a busy start attending work shops and preparing their rooms for the start of school. The first day for students began with locker assignments, lunch count and the new schedule. Mr. Fisher discussed his expectations for the school year and challenged students to "Walk the Talk". The students watched a video before proceeding to their Advisor/Advisee meetings, class meetings and lunch. After lunch they attended classes to meet their teachers and start the 2009 school year!
