Elgin Community Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a current graduating senior of Elgin Public High School or Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin, Nebraska. Applicant must have attended Elgin Public High School or Pope John XXIII High School for at least two (2) years. Applicants must have a minimum of an 18 ACT score.

A one-year scholarship grant will be awarded to graduating seniors of Elgin Public High School and a one-year scholarship grant will be awarded to graduating seniors of Pope John XXIII High School.

Applicant must possess the ability to do post- secondary work in a satisfactory manner.

Applicant must be pursuing post-secondary studies at an accredited, qualified institution of high education. Post-secondary education must begin the academic year immediately following high school graduation. Applicant must show proof of earning at least a 2.50 GPA while earning at least 12 credit hours for the first semester of college and be enrolled as a fulltime student for the spring semester.

This scholarship will not be awarded to any student who receives a scholarship that sufficiently finances tuition, fees, and books during the student’s initial year of college study. Preference will be given to students not receiving Pell Grants.

It is required that the student totally completes the scholarship application form and submits it and required attachments to the Elgin Community Foundation by April 1, 2023. Order of students applying could determine priority of who should receive scholarship.

Scholarship recipient nominations will be made to the Elgin Community Scholarship Committee by the Elgin Community Scholarship Selection Committee. The Scholarship Committee will make the final decision on recipients and award amounts.
Scholarship announcements will be made to Elgin Public High School and Pope John XXIII High School by the Elgin Community Foundation on or before April 30th of each year and scholarship checks will be sent directly to the students’ college or university around January 30. Students will be required to provide first semester grades and proof of fulltime status for both fall and spring semester before funds will be sent.
