ELGIN STUDENTS IN ALL-STATE CHOIR!!!
Each year, over 2000 of the best high school musicians in the state audition for the Nebraska All-State Choir which is sponsored by the Nebraska Music Educators Association. Selection as a member is the highest musical honor attainable in Nebraska. Mr. Mark Butler, Chair of Choral Affairs for the NMEA has announced that Dana Uhrenholdt and Nathan Niewohner will be among the 450 students selected to be a part of the 2006 All-State Choir. Dana placed 2nd among the 53 First Sopranos that auditioned at the Norfolk site and 9 of them were chosen to sing in the choir. Nathan placed 5th out of 47 Bass 1’s and 8 of them were chosen.
The Guest conductor for the group will be Dennis K. Cox, Director of Choral Activities and Graduate Coordinator, at the University of Maine, Orono. The All-State Choir will rehearse Thursday, November 16 through Saturday, November 18 on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus at Kimball Hall. While the students rehearse, music educators will be attending the NMEA conference in which we will learn about and share ideas from other musicians around several mid-western states.
The final public concert will be held Saturday, November 18 at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts on the UNL campus. The parents already have their tickets ordered and seating is limited. But as exciting as this concert will be, you might call the Lied Center Box Office to see if tickets are still available. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that Dana and Nathan will NEVER forget!
