Selective Service Registration

Almost all male US citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.

To help men register, they need to go to https://www.sss.gov/register/who-needs-to-register/.  They can preregister at 17 years and 3 months of age and their registration will be held until they reach 18.

Please complete your registration with current and accurate information. The address you provide will be used to send your Registration Acknowledgment Letter and Selective Service number.

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Social Security Number
  • Email

Why is this so important?  If a young man fails to register during the registration door, he is unable to receive federally funded college loans and grants; is unable to get into federally funded training and certification programs, is barred from all federal employment; and is ineligible for many state and local government jobs.  In addition, if the young man is immigrant, he will have a 5-year delay in processing his citizenship application.

Registering takes @45 seconds and can be done online.
