Coronavirus Information

updated 3/15/20

According to Governor Ricketts, the current standard for closure in rural Nebraska Schools will be one untraceable (community spread) case (uncertain how they got it) of Covid-19 in an ESU area.  When that occurs in ESU #8 the state will ask all schools in the ESU to close.   If there is a closure, the situation will be re-evaluated every two weeks.

It is the intention of Elgin Public School if that occurs, to maintain some type of educational program for our students.  Many activities and gatherings will be affected in the next weeks/months to come so please continue to watch the website calendar  (Click here for Calendar)  and the Daily Bulletin  (Click here for Daily Bulletin)

Parents ---  please start thinking and planning for a possible long term closure of Elgin Public Schools.  Do you have access to the internet at home?  What form of communication works best for your situation.  If you wish to remove your child from school and keep them at home, that is your prerogative, just let us know of that decision.  Appropriate arrangements will be made for the continuation of their education.

TUESDAY, March 17th -----   No Early Dismissal on Tues.  Student-Led Conferences will not be held at school.   Students will take their report cards and student portfolios home on Tuesday evening and conferences will be held at home.  Parents will have a signature page to sign when the conference has been completed with their student.  This form must be returned to school.  A regular day of school will be held on Tues. including afternoon preschool.
