Elgin Public School Board
September Regular Meeting
EPS Distance Learning Room
September 14, 2022, 7:30 PM
President Lisa Welding called the Regular September Board Meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. Board members present were Ron Bode, Steve Busteed, Todd Heithoff, Luke Hinkle, and Lisa Welding. Eric Beckman was Absent. Also present were Superintendent Mike Brockhaus and Principal Greg Wemhoff.
Todd motioned and Ron Bode seconded to excuse Eric Beckman from the meeting. Motion carried, Vote 5-0.
President Welding led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Welding reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07. Posting was done on the High School building window and post office bulletin board.
Ron Bode motioned and Luke Hinkle second to approve the Consent Agenda: #5- Minutes of Previous Meeting, #6- Adopt the Agenda, #7- Financial Report, #8- Board Bills. Vote 5-0, motion carried.
President Welding recognized visitors and asked if the patrons had any comments.
In the Principal’s report, Mr. Wemhoff reported on the fall activities. Mrs. Tiffany Moser gave a presentation on what a Cross Country invite all entails and an update on our first year of participating in the sport.
In the Superintendents report, Mr. Brockhaus gave an update on the Budget and Tax hearing. Mr. Brockhaus also gave an update on lawn companies that have been contacted for quotes and upcoming early dismissals due to football games.
In action items, Bode motioned and Heithoff second to approve the close out of the Student Fee Fund Account and transfer the resources to the General Fund Account. Motion carried, Vote 5-0.
Hinkle motioned and Busteed second to approve the transfer of the former Student Fee Funds from the General Fund Account to the Activities Fund Account. Motion carried, Vote 5-0.
Heithoff motioned and Bode seconded to approve the transfer of $5,000 from the Activities Fund Account to the Wolfpack Account. Motion carried, Vote 5-0.
In Discussion items, discussions were held on the possibility of updating the HVAC system in the HS and Elementary Buildings. Also discussed was the special board meeting that will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 8:00 a.m.
Bode motioned to adjourn the meeting, Hinkle second. Vote 5-0, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m.
The next regular meeting will be October 12, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Room at Elgin Public School.
