Choice Day Friday

Choice Day Friday was introduced in 2006 to the elementary art program and will be continued this year. Elementary Art students in grades three through six have Art two days a week and alternate Fridays.  On Fridays we have "Choice Day".

The students are allowed to work on a drawing of their subject choice or use the time to catch up on a current project that they may be behind on because of an absence. Students may use pencil, crayon or colored pencil for their project.  They must complete a sketch prior to beginning their formal drawing just as they do with their assigned projects. The students are to follow the drawing rules they have learned in class throughout the year and apply them to their drawing. They are allowed to submit these drawings as well as their assigned projects to the County Fair.

Choice Day allows students to be more creative and gives me the opportunity to see how well they have listened to the art guidelines and can implement them on their own.  I can see if they have comprehended the all of the art concepts we have worked on in class and we can move on or if we need to review some of the concepts.
