Alumni Connection

Curt Carpenter points to his father's photo from the Class of 1938.

We recently were visited by an Elgin High Alumni connection from Dallas, Texas.  Curt Carpenter and his wife stopped by to view the actual alumni composites on their way through Elgin after viewing them online on our school webpage.  Mr. Carpenter shared the following information with me this summer.

"My father, Maurice D. Carpenter (Elgin high school class of 1938), and several of my aunts and uncles graduated from Elgin high school in the 1930s, and I am writing to ask if it would be possible to view the original class photos that are provided in the "Alumni" pages of your web site.   My wife and I will be visiting Elgin on September 7th and 8th, and if the class photos are available I would very much like to drop by and see them "in the flesh."

As a matter that might be of interest to your school, my father served in the 8th Air Force during WW2, and he and his crew were shot down and forced to land in Poland late in the war.   A brief account (in Polish!) of the episode is included here: http://fort-rogowo24.pl/77.html .

Thank you for your attention and help.

Curtis Carpenter
Dallas, Texas"

It's always nice to hear from the alumni (or their families)!  Thanks for sharing your dad's story Mr. Carpenter!
