Third Graders Learn About Water Quality
The third graders enjoyed a visit from Amy Latzel with the North Central District Health Department. Students learned about the importance of water quality and how it impacts our environment. They collected water samples from home prior to her visit. During the project, they learned about nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates. The third graders discovered why nitrates are important to farmers and also how too much can be a problem. They were able to test their own water samples with testing strips for nitrate, nitrite, and phosphate. It was a great learning experience that inspired the class to help take care of our environment.
