New Extra-Curricular Organization
There is a new extra-curricular organization at EPS! What was formerly FCCLA is now EHCC (Elgin High Community Club). EHCC is a student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. Our mission is to help and serve the community of Elgin. FCCLA already provided a lot for the community. To start, EHCC will continue to do the annual community events that FCCLA participated in previously. That includes serving food at the Elgin Show and Shine/Treasures in the Park in September, serving food at the bank appreciation dinner, helping little shoppers at Kids Shopping Night in December, and selling candy grams in February. We hope to add more events based on the needs of the community, what we are asked to participate in, and what the students are able to do.
There are some changes from FCCLA to EHCC. There will be no district, state, or national projects or competitions, students will not pay dues, and there will be no officers. We want everyone to participate equally and enjoy serving the community where they go to school. Last year's FCCLA members decided on the new name of our group and changed our color from red to purple.
This year we have 24 members in grades 7-12 and the adviser is Crystal Borer. We are excited to get involved and see what opportunities the year brings!
