Laproscopic surgery.  LifeNet.  Critical thinking in a medical situation.  These, plus many more, were topics discussed at this year's Groundhog Shadow event, held in Norfolk on January 31.  During the morning, students traveled to sessions involving various health care topics and activities.  They became part of the action in mock situations, talked to health care professionals and RHOP students, and even used medical equipment, such as the laproscopic tools.

Students listened to health care professionals describe their jobs and describe the tools they use on a daily basis.

In the afternoon students traveled to various sites around Norfolk to shadow in a chosen career choice.  Shadowing opportunities included:  dentistry, occupational therapy, nursing, veterinarian, medical lab, and audiology.  They all had a great deal of new information to talk about after their two-hour shadowing experiences.

The students agreed that it was a great event.  They were able to be exposed to many situations and experiences that they would normally not have had the opportunity to take part in.
