The Elgin FFA Chapter Celebrated National FFA Week February 17th–23rd, students participated during the week in the following activities. On Monday students dressed as their “Favorite Farm Animal”, Tuesday was “Official Dress Day”, Wednesday was “Farm Accident Day”, Thursday was “Hick Day”,
and Friday was “Blue and Gold Pride Day”. On Wednesday during the week the FFA Officers served breakfast to the staff at E.H.S. during their late start in-service. Wednesday was a bitterly cold day however two brave students still chose to drive their tractors to school to take part in the festivities of tractor day. Thursday was a special day for the Elgin FFA Chapter as the State FFA President Sarah Novotny from Kimball and State FFA Vice-President Leighton Wier from Ord visited. The state officers conducted leadership workshops throughout the day in Mr. Simpson’s Ag Classes. Thursday was also Ugly Truck Day and we had four entries in this years contest. Friday the FFA Officers served ice cream to the 7 – 12 student body after lunch to celebrate the hard work that was done during the canned food drive after Christmas. During the canned food drive the Elgin FFA Chapter contributed over 1000 cans of food to the Antelope County Food Pantry. The second grade class was served Brownie Sundaes on Friday afternoon, as they were the elementary class that collected the most canned food items for the food drive.
