2008 ESU #8 Invitational Art Show
Ribbon Winners
The Elgin Public Art students competed at the ESU #8 Invitational Art show in Neligh this week, April 21st-23rd. The students competed against Battle Creek, Clearwater, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Madison, Neligh-Oakdale, Norfolk Public, O'Neill, Orchard, Plainview, Pope John, Stanton, Verdigre and Atkinson West Holt. The show was judged by Randel Anderson, Artist and Instructor of Norfolk, NE. The Eagles won a total of 48 ribbons that included 13 Blues for Superior work, 18 Reds for Excellent work and 17 Whites for Honorable Mention. The Art students have earned a total of 97 ribbons for the year with the NVC Art Show to go.
The top ribbon winner at the ESU show was Allie Schiltmeyer with 10 ribbons, followed by Chad Clouse with 6 ribbons, Carlie Redding with 5 and Linsey Bode with 4. Tyler Johnson, Noel Voborny, Andrew Bauer and Becki Schindler each won 3 ribbons. The other 9 students won 1 ribbon each. This included Bethany Kallhoff-Blue, Brandy Suhr, Clint Meis and Emily Wilhelmit-Red and Kayla Thrailkill, Tonya Wiegand, Austin Stamp, Justin Kallhoff and Doug Jacobs-Honorable Mention.
The students tag, mat and attach hangers to their work to prepare it for the show. The artwork was loaded up Monday morning and taken to the Park Pavilion in Neligh where it was displayed until Wednesday. The show was open to the public all day Tuesday. Wednesday, the students listened to Judge Randel Anderson discuss the Purple award winning work and what made the 12 pieces outstanding. The show was taken down at 2:00 and brought back to Elgin. The students will remove the ESU tags, pull down the NVC tags they attached last week, repack the work and head to Verdigre on Friday, April 25th for the NVC show.
