9:35-10:10   3-4 Music:  Monday(4)  Book:  p. 6 – review songs for beat.  P. 8: show steady beat by chanting, clapping while singing.  Use instruments to show beat.  CS 1.3, 1.4     Tuesday(3)  Book p. 4-7: demonstrate a steady beat thru moving and playing instruments.  CS  1.3, 1.4   Wednesday(4) Book:  p. 8: review steady beat.  P. 20: show sets of 2 with steady beat.  Specify strong weak beats.   CS 2.2, 2.3   Thursday(3) Book: p. 8-10: keep steady beat with songs as you listen and sing using instruments and claps.  CS 1.2, 1.4, 7.4   Friday(3) Book p. 8-10: review steady beat using claps and instruments.     CS 1.2, 1.4, 7.4

 

10:10-10:50   5-6 Music: Monday(6)  Book p. 6:  Sing song about how we can help the world overcome hunger.  Begin composing CD covers to promote a song that will raise funds for Iraq students in need.  CS 7.4, 10.5   Tuesday(5)  Book p. 21:  Sing song to reinforce step, leap and repeat in melody.  Draw contour of phrases in song to practice using these ways.   CS 5.3, 5.7, 7.4   Wednesday(6) Finish CD covers while reviewing song on p. 6.  Sing p. 132 in jazz style if time.   CS 10.5, 9.4, 7.4      Thursday(5) Book p. 21: review and draw contour of 3 melodies to assess knowledge of melody shapes.  P. 4: rap and steady beat.  CS 5.3, 5.7, 1.6, 7.4      Friday(5) Book p. 4: rap music – where comes from- sing song and keep beat.  Take assessment on steady beat to see if proficient.  CS 1.6, 7.4

Rehearse SSB parts, sight sing In This Very Room for skills.  Continue work on Battle Hymn for clinic.  Sing pop song for fun.  Wednesday(B) Practice marching signals outside with jr. high – work on start, stop and keeping straight lines, heel-toe.  Thursday(C)  Warmups. Rehearse SSB parts, sight sing In This Very Room for skills.  Continue work on Battle Hymn for clinic.  Sing pop song for fun.  Friday(B) Warmups.  Rehearse drum cadence.  Play SSB and learn fight song.  Sightread songs to choose one for parade marching.

Music: Tuesday: MusicPlay p. 2: learn song by rote teaching echos and rules.  Do sirens to warm up voices.  Teach count & go to enforce listening and directions.  CS  7.4   Thursday: MusicPlay p. 3: introduce poem “Open Shut Them” to practice following directions.  Sing Action Songs.  CS  7.4   Friday:  Music: Do rhythm band to poem and nursery rhymes to keep beat.  Sing songs from We All Live CD.      CS  7.4, 1.3
