2009 Kindergarten Flowers

Art Class

The Kindergarten Art class recently finished their flower project.  Their flowers involved using many different skills and techniques such as drawing, painting, cutting and gluing.

The students began their project by going out to the landscaping garden and looking at the flowers especially the daisies. We discussed what shapes the petals, leaves and stems were and how to draw them.

The students practiced drawing smiles and frowns to make leaves and petals. After practicing they drew their flowers on white construction paper with a black crayon. The next step was painting their flower with watercolor.  After letting the paintings dry, the kindergarten class cut out their flower and glued it to a piece of blue, construction.  Their paintings are ready for display.

This must have been a very fun project because we now have pictures of flowers all over our house. I even received a lesson in how to draw multi-layer petals!
