A new way to recycle!

Paper recycling just got easier!

AJ, just one of the recycling volunteers, empties a paper collection box from the school.

On a rainy Monday, the long-awaited GreenFiber dumpster was finally delivered to Elgin Public School!  The days of paper sorting (no neons or glue), magazine carrying (broken boxes and bags), and awkward cardboard carrying are over!  EPS students will now be able to place any paper product (paper, magazines, cardboard, chipboard) in the new GreenFiber dumpster on the school grounds!

Recycle volunteers Juliana and Angela dump paper that has accumulated since the beginning of the school year.
The GreenFiber company will then haul it away and shred it into a powder to be used for blow-in insulation.

The Elgin Public recycling team will still be emptying many of the ‘recycle boxes’ from around the school, however many elementary teachers are getting their classrooms involved by having a designated ‘recycle box emptier’ for the week.

It’s very important that no other products be dumped into this dumpster or it could contaminate the entire load—therefore sending it to the landfill and destroying all recyclable value.  We are excited to be a part of the GreenFiber team!
