NASB Awards of Achievement
Elgin Public School Board members Bruce Anderson and Laurie Waterbury were recognized Oct. 8th for awards presented by the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB). Bruce received a level 1 award and Laurie received her level 2 award. The NASB Awards of Achievement program is designed to recognize the time and commitment made by board members in continuing their education to enhance effective board service. Points are awarded for participation in various activities throughout the year at the local, state and national levels.To carry out their role effectively, board members must keep abreast of changing times and circumstances. Their existing expertise must be augmented by the continuous addition of new knowledge. School board members are elected, generally for 4 year terms. They hold one of the few unpaid offices in our democracy.
