2011 Art Supplies

K-8 Art Students

It's almost time for school and I just wanted to remind K-8 Art students that they will need a Pringles can, with a lid, for Art class this year to hold their supplies.  This will allow each student to have their own supplies to use and not have to share with eight other classes.  Some students brought their can in last spring and I have those in storage for them.  This will be the first time the 8th grade students have heard about this since they didn't have Art last year.

Please write your child's name (first and last) on the can. If anyone has extra cans they want to donate, we can always use them.  We store pipe cleaners, rulers and a variety of other art supplies in them.  In addition we have used them for Prom centerpieces.

Make sure it is a cardboard, Pringles can and not a plastic Lays can.  The students will be covering their can with their own custom designed label and they need the smooth surface the Pringles can provides.  The kids may bring their can in the first day of school down to my room.

If anyone has plastic, ice cream, buckets and/or lids they would like to donate we can use a bunch of those.  The lids are used as palettes for painting and printmaking.  Art palettes from a catalog can cost anywhere from $1.00-$20.00 each.  The ice cream bucket lids work just as well and are free.  The buckets are used to hold paper mache glue and to store clay projects in so they do not dry out.

Thank you and see you August 18th!
