Monday, February 22 was an interesting day for the eighth grade class.  Mrs. Jones took them to Vermillion, South Dakota to tour the National Music Museum.  Holly Kerkman was a parent sponsor.  This was the culmination of a unit of study in music class about the instruments of the Renaissance period.

Each student researched an instrument and presented a power point to the class prior to the museum tour.  So the students had some knowledge of the instruments we would see. But there was so much more to learn!  Dr. Debbie Reeves, the curator, took us on a wonderful time travel through the history of musical instruments!  The kids had a great time learning.  It was a day the students will soon not forget!

Check out the slide show to see for yourselves the wonderful instruments that can still be seen and heard from the Renaissance time way back in 1450 to 1600!  If you ever visit Vermillion be sure to go to the museum - you won't regret the experience!!
