So does Cody
And then Michael
Shane was brave too and made it...but the EM did not survive Garet!
Back in the classroom to make the speakers.
Michael is almost done.
They actually work!
Levi passes the test

In Designing with Technology class we have been studying electricity and some of its effects and applications. One effect is the corresponding magnetic field created by a coil of wire with a current. Using a fairly small electromagnet and a D-battery we ventured to the playground to see if the manufacturer’s claim of supporting 200 lbs would stand up to the test. It came close since it held 4 out of the 5 students in class. The students were surprised to see the strength of the magnetic field from a simple coil of wire. We then returned to the classroom to discuss and build another electromagnetic application, speakers.  Using a Styrofoam cup, copper wire, and a magnet, each student made a simple speaker then hooked it up to the radio and listened to the music.  Check out the day's activities in the slide show!
