2010 ESU #8 Spring Invitational Art Show

Junior High and High School Ribbon Winners

The Elgin Public Art students once again competed in the annual spring art show hosted by  ESU #8 in Neligh. The show featured over 800 pieces of artwork from 16 schools that included; Battle Creek, Clearwater, Elgin Public, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Madison, Neligh-Oakdale, Norfolk Public, O'Neill, Orchard, Plainview, Pope John, Stanton, Verdigre and Atkinson West Holt.  Judging the show were LeRoy von Glan and Randel Anderson, professional artists and instructors from Norfolk.

The high school art students earned a total of 16 ribbons that included 8 Superiors or blues, 3 Excellents or reds and 5 Honorable Mentions or white ribbons.  Ribbon winners were;

Noel Voborny with an Honorable Mention in photography

Jennifer Rhoads with a Superior in sculpture and an Excellent in photography

Rose Fangman won a Superior in sculpture and an Excellent in mixed media

Kevin Schindler brought home a Superior in sculpture

Sebastian Janssen earned 2 Superiors in sculpture and an Honorable Mention in collage

Jessica Heithoff won a Superior ribbon in sculpture and an Honorable Mention in collage

Michelle Bauer earned a Superior ribbon for printmaking, an Excellent for her collage and 2 Honorable Mentions for collage

Anthony Hemenway won a Superior ribbon in printmaking.

 

Earning 6 Excellents for the Junior High from the previous K-8 show were;

Madison Voborny with 2 ribbons, Ivy Prater, Allison Koenig, Hunter Thramer and Brett Kinney all in sculpture. This brings the total 8-12 count to 24 ribbons.
