FFA Members Do Well at District Area Range Contest
On Wednesday September 14th 22 FFA members headed out to the sandhills of Holt county to compete in the area district range judging contest. Out of the 22 members competing 15 came home with an individual ribbon as they placed in the top 1/4 of their division (Senior or Junior) while others earned a ribbon from a team placing. Overall it was a very good day for our judgers! Our top placer of the day was Justine Meis who was 2nd overall in the senior division. Her team of Jared Seier, Trent Hoefer and Grant Beckman placed 4th overall & the team of Beau Heithoff, Shane Beckman, Garet Schindler, & Tre Henkenius was 5th in the same division. Other Senior division members receiving individual ribbons were: Grant Beckman, Shane Beckman, Jared Seier, Caleb Pelster, & Beau Heithoff,
On the Junior division side Brandon Funk was the high placer as he was 10th overall. Others who placed in the top 1/4 of the division were: Jon Meis, Brett Kinney, Travis Grosserode, Mallory Fangman, Morgan Childers, Tanner Welding, & Corin Pelster. The team of Brandon, Mallory, Brett, & Jon finished 4th overall.
This year the state range contest is in Syndey, NE on October 4th. A senior team of Justine Meis, Tyler Childers, Devon Baum, & Beau Heithoff will compete as well as two junior teams of Mallory, Corin, Brett, Travis, Morgan, Jon, Tanner, & Brandon.
