FFA Members Attend Husker Harvest Days
13 FFA members attended Husker Harvest Days on Thursday September 15th. Members attending were; Tre Henkenius, Alex Grosserode, Travis Grosserode, Brandon Funk, Cordell Waterbury, Allison Koenig, Ashlyn DeWald, Juliana Dunn, Christian Dunn, Tanner Welding, Jon Meis, Mallory Fangman, & Corin Pelster. In order to pay for their admission fee everyone brought a sack of canned goods that will be donated to food banks in the area.
While at the event students had to complete a career scavenger hunt prepared by UNL & the Nebraska State FFA office. Students had to fill out job descriptions of each of the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (AFNR) Career Pathways. Those pathways are; Agribusiness, Animal Systems, Environmental Services, Food Products and Processing, Natural Resources, Plant Systems, & Power, Structural and Technical Systems. After they filled out the descriptions they had to go and talk to two four year colleges or universities and two 2 year colleges about the career pathway they were the most interested in. After the college visit the students returned their papers to the UNL booth where they received a free t-shirt and were entered in a drawing for a $500 scholarship.
