3rd Graders Make 3-D Recycled Christmas Card Ornaments
In 3rd grade, we began decorating our room for the Christmas season. We started with old Christmas cards that Mrs. Eisenhauer brought in. She traced over 200 circles and triangles on the inside of the circles as the template for the ornament. Then, the 3rd graders picked out five cards from the pile and got to work right away on cutting out twenty circles. Next, the students had to fold the flaps of the circles up using the lines of the triangles to guide them. Folding had to be very precise to ensure the ornament would glue together. After the hard job of folding, the students put together their 3-D ornament in four steps using glue. It was a sticky mess but all the ornaments held together! Last came the 3rd graders favorite part of the ornament: GLITTER! We tied ribbons to each ornament and hung them up to decorate our room for the season!
