2012 School Board Awards
Elgin Public School Board members Laurie Waterbury, Bob Hoefer and Steve Heithoff were recognized for awards presented by the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) at the November board meeting. Bob received a Level One award, Laurie received her Level Four award and Steve earned his Level Six award.
"The NASB Awards of Achievement program is designed to recognize the time and commitment made by board members in continuing their education to enhance effective board service. Points are awarded for participation in various activities throughout the year at the local, state and national levels.
To carry out their role effectively, board members must keep abreast of changing times and circumstances. Their existing expertise must be augmented by the continuous addition of new knowledge. School board members are elected, generally for 4 year terms. They hold one of the few unpaid offices in our democracy." Dr. Gayla Fredrickson
