2012 Radial Designs

or Snowflakes!

The paper has been folded and the student has started cutting their design

Christmas vacation was over and it was time to get back into the school groove.  The elementary students worked on radial designs or snowflakes their first days back at school.  A radial design is a design that repeats in a circular pattern and radiates out from the center.  Rose windows on churches, kaleidoscopes and hubcaps would be examples of radial designs.

The students could create as many snowflakes as they had time for
The Fifth and Sixth grade classes were allowed to create 3' high snowflakes after they demonstrated they could correctly fold and cut out a smaller one.  Click on the photo corners to see their work.
