The previous day's prints are sorted and ready for the students to begin printing
The Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade Art classes have begun their reduction printing lesson. They drew a design that had three sections so it could be printed and then printed two more times after being reduced each time. They printed a different color each time as well, so the final print has three colors, three sections and three sets of patterns. It's a little confusing until they get going with the process but they catch on quickly as they work. Click on the photo corners to view the process. They have one more reduction and color to print to finish up.
The students have to think about contrast as they choose ink and paper color. The light yellow shows up well against the black paper
Bright yellow against white paper is a little hard on the eyes!
Ervin adds more pattern to his board after trimming it
Vada is pulling her print from the foamboard
Anna is tracing over her design to deepen the lines after tracing it through the paper
This student is tracing over the her drawing to dent the foamboard underneath
After inking the foamboard the student places the paper on top and rubs it to make sure the ink makes contact with the paper
3 printings, 2 color additions and 2 pattern additions later, the finished print for the 5th Graders. This one is Anna's
