MUSIC LESSON PLANS FOR WEEK OF  FEBRUARY 13-17, 2012   (Odds Week)

8:15-9:05   8th Music: Monday: Watch video of “Tackling the Monster”  - ways to incorporate practice into things we do in music and life situations.  Discuss ways as we watch and how they relate to things teenagers do each day.  Practice 2 solos.   Tuesday:  Watch video of “Tackling the Monster”  - ways to incorporate practice into things we do in music and life situations.  Discuss ways as we watch and how they relate to things teenagers do each day.  Practice 2 solos.   Wednesday: Watch video of “Tackling the Monster”  - ways to incorporate practice into things we do in music and life situations.  Discuss ways as we watch and how they relate to things teenagers do each day.  Practice 2 solos.    Thursday: Test over the 12 ways to practice to assess knowledge of subject on video.  Practice solos or play music game. Friday: No School.

9:10-9:50   5-6 Music:  Monday(6) Book p. 150: unit over bands around the world and different styles of each.  Play Valentine game.    CS 9.3     Tuesday(5)  Book p. 260: perform theme musical singing songs and speaking parts.  Play Valentine game.  CS 10.7, 7.4         Wednesday(6)  Book p. 150: finish unit over bands around the world.  CS  9.3, 9.4       Thursday(5) Book p. 260: finish musical – sing songs again when finished.  CS 7.4, 10.7           Friday(5) No School.  CS      

10:05-10:40   3-4 Music:  Monday(4)  Book p. 127-9: finish unit on orchestra tone color.  Play Valentine game.  CS  8.4, 8.5       Tuesday (3) Books p. 42: harmony in songs, use of ostinatos.  Play Valentine game.   CS 6.3, 6.4            Wednesday(4)  Play recorders.  Learn 3rd note and counting.  CS   10.8       Thursday(3)  Book p. 44-6: finish songs with harmony.  Songs from Seussical.  CS  6.3, 6.4, 7.4          Friday(3) No School.    CS      

10:54-11:40   H.S. Music:  Monday:  Piano – Continue with Chapter 5 reps and preps exercises.  Be able to play Finger crossings (learning scale finger positions) and altered hand positions on pg. 72 & 73, as well as the songs that correlate with exercises.   Tuesday:  Theory – Lessons 45-47:  TWL sixteenth notes, rests & dotted note values and counting them in music.  Do worksheet and guided practice on computer.  Wednesday:  Preschool @ 10:55 – 11:20:  teach music songs and basic concepts.  Review piano concepts and songs remainder of class.  Thursday: History - Continue chapter about Classical music.  Listen to examples on video and discuss & take notes from thinkquest.    Friday:  No School.   

11:40-12:05-12:30   Cadet Band:  Monday (5) Trumpet:  Book # 63-68.  Practice buzz, breathing, fingerings, low & high sounds. Rehearse solo.  (6) Trumpet: Book - # 160-6.  Practice note naming, counting, embouchure for pitches.  Rehearse solo.  Tuesday (5) Clarinet: Book # 80-85.  Practice for bigger sound, cover finger holes harder, correct fingerings.  Rehearse solo.  (6) Clarinet: Book -  #76-7, 80-5.  Practice time better, say – say & do – play:  do all 3 steps.  Rehearse solo.   Wednesday (5) All:  Begin rehearsing song for solo contest in March:  Bell Canyon March and Beethoven – using correct notes and counting.   (6) All: Begin rehearsing song for solo contest in March:  Bell Canyon March and Beethoven – using correct notes and counting.    Thursday (5) Flute: Book # 70-76.  Practice with say – say & do – play:  do all 3 steps.   Work on bigger breaths.  Rehearse solo.   (6)Flute:  Book – # 170-176.  Practice note names, fingerings and counting.  Rehearse solo.   Friday(5) Percussion: (6) Baritone:  No School.

2:35-2:55   Kind. Music:  Tuesday   Musicplay p. 74; songs about kangaroos to learn tone color and rhythm patterns.  Play Valentine game.  CS  7.4, 7.6           Thursday:  Musicplay p. 76: friendship song.  Alphabet song of the week.  Learn words to America – teach patriotic song.  CS  7.4, 3.2, 1.3     

2:55-3:43  Planning 2nd Semester when 7-8 Music is 1st Period.
