Senior Sneak
On Thursday, March 14, 2013, twelve seniors and three sponsors loaded the van to head off to Rapid City, South Dakota for their Senior Sneak trip. After a drive through the Badlands on their way there, they arrived at their hotel on Thursday evening and spent some time in the pool and hot tub. Friday morning the day started with a visit to Mr. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial along with a beautiful drive in the mountains that Mrs. Klein enjoyed. They then came back and attended a Rapid City Rush Hockey Game on Friday night and enjoyed Papa Johnâs pizza together as a class.
Saturday the group took off to go tubing at Mystic Miner Ski Park near Lead, South Dakota and had a great lunch in the historic town of Deadwood. After lunch, they headed to Flag and Wheels in Rapid City for some extreme go-cart racing and laser tag. Needless to say, Andrew was a little disappointed when Mrs. Selting beat him on the track. Then, to round out the trip, a nice supper was had by all at Minervaâs Saturday evening in Rapid City.
Bright and early Sunday morning the class headed back home on some awful winter roads. Overall, many memories were made as they look forward to the future!

| Andrew Heithoffandrew.heithoff@elgineagles.orgcurrently in PhysicsAngry Student | Mar 22, 2013 | I have never witnessed a teacher at Elgin Public Schools lie so much about anything as Mrs. Selting managed to do just now. The printed results from the track do NOT lie, and I defeated her in every aspect of the race. For the record, she was gently placed into the wall on turn two, and compeleted a 40 second lap time when my average was 17.53 seconds. Her average speed was 38 miles per hour and mine was 43 miles per hour. Slow and steady does not win the race. In the wise and truthful words of Ricky Bobby, "If you ain't first, your last!" As for Viper in the movie Top Gun, "There are no points for second place." |
Mrs. Klein ElginSpanish teacher | Mar 22, 2013 | So many great memories. I could have done without the near-death experience in the mountains, though. |
Mrs. Shoe | Mar 25, 2013 | Seriously, Andrew, who wrote this for you? It's so well worded and fluent, and there are no grammatical errors. I'm a bit suspicious. Either that, or you just have a fantastic English teacher who is finally influencing you after all these years! : ) Also, I think I'm going to have to believe Selting on this one. You just seem a bit defensive, my friend. |
