KAO PERFORMS AT ALL STATE BAND
Saturday, March 23, 2013 was an exciting day for Kao Takaya. Mrs. Jones and Kao travelled to Kearney for the Class D All State Band. After checking into the hotel, we dined at a restaurant she had yet to experience – Carlos O’Kellys and for dessert shared a ‘fried ice cream’ – a yummy new treat also! Kao stayed in a room with 2 girls from Wheeler Central and made friends immediately. They got along like old friends who have known each other for years.
Rehearsals for the honor band were most of the day Saturday. Because of the looming weather, the concert was moved up to 4:00 p.m. and we still had a nice audience in attendance. Kao played very well and her audition was superior – she received a first place medal at the concert! Kao played a solo during one of the pieces and performance was stellar. Congratulations to Kao on a job well done!
