Enrichment Day at Wheeler Central

Several 5th-8th grade students attended the annual Northern Tier Enrichment Day.  Wheeler Central hosted the event on Thursday, March 16.

Jeff Bellar, Norfolk Catholic's Administrator and successful football coach, started the day with a presentation on character and leadership.

Next, the students explored a variety of engaging activities with presentations from the USDA, NECC, UNL Extension Office, the Nebraska State Patrol and forensics unit, and the NPPD STEM lab.

Keyera Eisenhauer

"I liked flying the drone for my first time."

Baylee Busteed

"I liked trying to make electricity because it was fun to be able to see how much electricity we were making."

Ethan Hinkle

"The Northeast Community College Vex Robotics Program because I like driving remote control cars and robots and these robots could actually pick up objects."

Jack Wemhoff

"I liked the Vex Robotics because it taught me what kind of battles the NECC students have to do.  It also taught me who could join the NECC Vex Robotics.  Finally, it taught me how to control the robots and pick up the items that you have to pick up.  It would be nice if we could join Vex Robotics!"

Riley Vitamas, 7th Grade

"My favorite part of the day was robotics, because I liked the idea of using your brain and building them and then watch them come to life!!"

Colton Wright, 7th Grade

"My most favorite part was the robotics session and how we got to control a robot."

Theanna Dunn, 8th Grade

"The best part was either the robotics or when the officer and secret agent talked to us about the law and what they do."
