Green Screen and Personal Narratives

Creighton

To end our first unit of Wonders, we published our personal narratives that we had been working on.  The prompt was to to write about something challenging that we've had to do.  First, to write the narratives we did all the steps of the writing process.  We did prewriting, drafting, revising, peer editing, editing, writing a final copy, and publishing.

To publish it we decided to make a video of us reading our narrative with a green screen behind us.  We had to pick pictures that we wanted to show behind us when we were reading.  That way we knew if we should be standing, sitting, etc.  Then we had to decide if we wanted to wear certain clothes or if we wanted to bring props to hold.  Once we had the details figured out, we practiced reading our narrative as if we were being recorded.

Show time!  Mrs. Drueke and Mrs. Borer set up the green screen in the classroom and recorded each of us.  We were nervous!  It was hard to look at the iPad.

The best part came last.  We used the green screen app to insert our video and pictures.  We cropped and adjusted everything to make it look just right.  After that, they were uploaded to the class YouTube channel, Mrs. Borer's Class .

Check it out to see all of our videos!
