Future Teacher Returns to Old Stomping Grounds
Recently, EPS students and teachers have seen a familiar face wandering the halls. Well, maybe not wandering. Hannah (Wilkinson) Williams is on a mission! The Northeast Community College student is currently completing observation hours at Elgin Public.
Williams, who is studying to be an English teacher, is spending time observing some of Mrs. Shoe’s Language Arts classes, which is a requirement of her Introduction to Education class. Williams logs these hours on Mondays and Fridays by visiting Creative Writing. On Tuesdays she joins second period English 11 and third period English 9.
As a part of the experience, Williams will also be teaching a class period of her choice.
Williams is the daughter of Tom Wilkinson. Following her graduation from Elgin Public in 2003, she enlisted in the Army Reserves and served in Iraq for one year. She is currently working full time as a graphic artist at Affiliated Foods while pursuing her teaching degree at NECC and Wayne State College.
Best of luck to you, Hannah! It’s nice to have you back!
